Due to Taiwan’s weather is too humid and hot, it’s hard for raising sheep.
In 1969, the livestock laboratory in Taiwan introduced 5 males and 50 females of Corriedale and 50 males and 50 females of Romney marsh from Australia for breeding and breeding. Due to the unsuitable climatic environment, The sheep production plan was terminated.

In the domestic animal species, sheep can be divided into goats and sheep. The two are taxonomically different genus animals, so they cannot mate with each other and reproduce naturally. Today, most of the goats raised in Taiwan are goats, and the number of sheep is very small.
There are 7 existing sheep breeds in Taiwan, including 1 native species and 6 exotic species. Among them, there is only one sheep breed.

It can adapt to poor feed and has strong disease resistance. In cold regions, they will grow wool that sheds in the spring.
